“Everything I thought I knew about a healthy diet and its effects on the heart and body turned out to be untrue. Fat doesn’t clog the arteries like a drain pipe! And eating fat doesn’t make you fat!”
Claire’s Metabolic Story
Disease prevention, reversal & supporting people toward optimal health has become Claire's principal passion.
Graduating in 2001, Claire has over 21 years of nursing experience within the NHS.
Working in many cardiac settings, including the Intensive care unit. She became a Sister in the Coronary Care Unit and a Specialist Heart failure and Rehabilitation Nurse.
Throughout her career in the NHS, Claire cared for people who were acutely unwell following a cardiac event or tried to manage the long-term consequences of cardiovascular disease development.
In 2017 Claire became too ill to work. Searching for answers, she came to understand the true drivers of poor metabolic health and its associated conditions.
To her absolute horror, everything she thought she knew about a healthy diet and its effects on the heart and body turned out to be untrue. Fat doesn't clog the arteries like a drain pipe! And eating fat doesn't make you fat!
Leaving the low-fat Jaffa cakes, skinless chicken and fat-free foods behind, Claire embraced the strategies she had researched and began her journey of recovery back to good metabolic health. Before long, Claire's hair grew back, her vitality improved, and she no longer felt as hungry with the need to eat every two hours.
Bursting with enthusiasm, Claire has helped her brother & friend reverse their type 2 diabetes. Her mother is no longer on blood pressure medicine and she has educated countless patients on the link between Insulin resistance & Cardiovascular disease. One of Claire's patients nominated her for an award - this can be viewed here.
Claire's sons, who are 27 & 29 years of age, often tease her for not allowing them to eat the chicken skin when they were younger! A fact Claire still feels guilty about!
Realising the power of yoga on health & well-being, Claire completed her yoga teacher training in 2019.
Having seen the devastating effects of poor metabolic health on her patients, herself and her family over the years, Claire feels privileged to be collaborating with Meterbolic to offer her clients a different approach: evidence-based prevention.
